TV Band will show the Christmas special “Silent Night: A Christmas Prayer”, with Andrea Bocelli.
The Christmas special with Andrea Bocelli, straight from Frasassi Caves, in Italy, will air this Friday (25), at 22:45 pm on Band.
Considered one of the greatest tenors in the world, the musician was the winner of five BRIT Awards and three Grammys, in addition to having recorded nine complete operas, including La Bohème, Il Trovatore, Werther and Tosca.
Throughout his career, he sold more than 70 million copies of records worldwide.
Born in the city of Lajatico, around 40 km from Pisa, Bocelli was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma during birth, which left him partially blind.
At the age of six, he began studying piano and, later, flute, saxophone, harp, guitar and drums. At 12, during a football match, he received a blow to the head that made him completely blind.
Even with all the difficulties, he didn't give up on his dreams. Still in his early teens, he won the Margherita d'Oro award, in Viareggio, with the song “O Sole Mio”.
In 1980, he enrolled in University of Pisa to study Law. After working for a year as a lawyer, he realized it was time to dedicate himself fully to music, his great passion.
