Culturally influential countries are often synonymous with good food. fashion, respected industry and a sophisticated life. They are trendsetters. Their products have that “inexplicable something” that makes us run to the shelves a little faster.
And this is the case of Italy. Celebrated for its culinary traditions, classic art, designer clothes and sports cars, the country is once again the biggest cultural influencer in the world, according to the ranking of Best Countries for 2020, released this week.
Formed in partnership with the BAV Group, a unit of the global marketing communications company VMLY&R, and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, the ranking is based on a survey of more than 20 people from four regions of the world, from 73 countries with specific characteristics.
France, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom, in this sequence, complete the list of the top five biggest influencers in the world. Brazil is in seventh position.
A curious example is Portugal. The country that was once a great empire in the world was unable to maintain a strong influence. It occupies 23rd position, behind Thailand or South Korea, for example.
