Cheapest network overall
Eurospin leads as the most economical supermarket chain in Italy. The ranking considers both traditional supermarkets and discount chains.
Founded in 1993, in VeronaThe company has established itself as the largest low-cost chain in the country, with its so-called private label brands. Today, it has approximately 1.200 stores in Italy and other European countries.
Next in line are Aldi, Lidl, and iN's, which also stand out for their low prices.
Best value for money in the real shopping cart.
For consumers who buy a mix of branded products and cheaper items, Famila appears to be the best value-for-money option.
The chain outperforms traditional competitors like Coop and Conad, which have prices that are approximately 1% and 2% higher, respectively.
Famila also leads in the category of branded products. In this case, Esselunga comes in second, with a difference of only 1%.
Founded in 1984, Famila has over 300 stores, mainly in northern Italy.
Cheapest discount network
Among budget-friendly supermarkets, iN's Mercato will be ranked first in 2026.
The difference compared to Eurospin, the second-placed company, is approximately 2%.
The chain, founded in 1994, has approximately 560 stores in 12 Italian regions.
On the other hand, Todis appears as the most expensive among the discount supermarkets, with prices around 14% higher than iN's.
Cheaper for private label brands
Carrefour leads when the focus is on private label products.
Items sold under the French chain's brand have lower prices than those found at competitors such as Conad, Pam, Coop, and Esselunga.
Despite this, Carrefour tends to be more expensive in total. In baskets with varied products, prices can be around 7% higher than those of the most economical chain.
