The Italian Consulate General in São Paulo, which serves a population of hundreds of thousands of people, has launched a series of informative videos in Portuguese on its social media channels about services such as passport issuance, citizenship recognition, and updating civil registration.
The videos are on consulate channel on YouTube and, together, they accumulate almost 17 thousand views on this platform alone.
“A consulate the size of São Paulo, which has a demand for more than half a million users and a huge potential basin, has the responsibility of raising awareness among users.
The more informed users are, the faster we can issue services,” the official told ANSA. consul general of Italy in São Paulo, Philip LaRosa.

The series of videos explains, for example, who must complete consular registration and the step-by-step process for registering with the AIR (acronym for Registry of Italians Residing Abroad), to update civil registration and to apply for a passport.
There are also two videos on citizenship recognition: an introductory one, explaining the procedures in general, and another aimed at those who have already been summoned to present the documents.
“User awareness can only be achieved with accurate information, which is why we thought of these videos. Our interest is that the source is the Consulate of São Paulo, and not customs agents and all those who may not provide complete and perfectly correct information”, adds La Rosa.
According to the consul, the effects of the initiative are expected in the medium term, but it is already possible to see positive results. “The process of raising user awareness is bringing results. This is something that started before videos. We’ve been communicating on social media for two and a half years,” he says. (HANDLE).
