O government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, marked by being the first in the history of Italy to be led by a woman, completed two years this Tuesday (22).

The date, which was celebrated by several ministers and supporters, placed the current administration as the seventh longest-serving in the European nation.

“If I look back, I think above all that I never spared myself. I think I am satisfied with the results and the goals we have achieved for Italy and I am also aware of how much work still needs to be done,” Meloni said in a video sent to an event in Bari.

“Two years ago we promised the Italians that we would build a more cohesive, strong and fair Italy, throughout the national territory.

It is a commitment that we intend to honor, together with you.

In recent years we have returned Italy to a new central role on the international stage,” he added.

Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, highlighted that the government had a “very positive balance”, as the “number of unemployed people decreased, exports reached important levels and we are the fourth largest trading power in the world”.

“Are we satisfied? No. We have three more years and we will work hard to solve the main problems,” the politician added, mentioning in particular the desire to raise workers’ wages in the near future.

Roberto Calderoli, the country's Minister of Regional Affairs and Autonomies, analyzed that the Meloni government reduced taxes, increased funds for public health and accelerated infrastructure works that were stalled.

“In 24 months we have laid the foundations for a stronger, more competitive Italy, proud of its roots. We have carried out ambitious reforms, restored Italy’s centrality on the international stage and relaunched key sectors such as tourism, culture and Made in Italy,” stressed Daniela Santanchè, Minister of Tourism.
