The City of Rome installed a swimming pool in front of the city this Thursday (31). Trevi Fountain so that tourists can throw coins during the cleaning work at one of the most popular attractions in the Italian capital.
The water tank of the historic Roman fountain has been emptied to allow experts to begin preservation work on the precious 18th century monument, which is due to be completed by the end of December.
On social media, the presence of the pool, an alternative found by the City Hall to please tourists who do not want to give up the tradition of throwing a coin into the Trevi Fountain, was the target of several jokes.
The Italian capital will take advantage of the fountain cleaning work to test a controlled access system on a walkway that will be set up to allow visits during the period of work.
In early October, Rome's mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, said that any entrance fee for the Trevi Fountain would not exceed two euros (R$ 12).HANDLE)
