Italian government plane arrives around 14pm, Brasília time
An Italian government plane with men from the Italian police and intelligence is heading to Bolivia and should extradite Cesare Battisti directly to the European country. The information was confirmed by Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, this Sunday morning (13), to the Associated Press news agency.
“One of our aircraft is travelling to Bolivia, where it will land around 17pm (Italian time, 14pm in Brazil),” Conte wrote on Facebook.
In a statement, Conte praised Bolivian and Brazilian authorities for their capture, after Battisti spent nearly four decades on the run. In the statement, the prime minister also confirmed that Battisti's sentence will be served as soon as he sets foot on Italian soil. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1993.
The Supreme Court reaffirmed: citizenship is born with the person.

Cesare Battisti, 64 years old, was arrested by Bolivian police in the early hours of Saturday (12), in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. He walked calmly down the street and wore a fake beard.
Also this Sunday, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, stated that the arrest was the result of a “determined effort by the Bolivian and Brazilian authorities”, together with the Italian diplomatic missions. The chancellor “confirmed that the effort will continue so that his extradition to Italy can take place as soon as possible”.
