Installation of the consulate in Florianópolis is a historic demand of the Italian community in Santa Catarina

The governor of Santa Catarina, Carlos Moisés da Silva (PSL), meets this Monday (28) with Raffaele Festa, consul general of Italy in Curitiba, and with Attilio Colitti, honorary consul in Florianópolis, according to his communications office.

The agenda will focus on finalizing arrangements for the installation of the Italian consulate in Florianópolis.

A historic demand of the Italian community in Santa Catarina, the consular unit was promised by former governor Eduardo Pinho Moreira (MDB) who signaled at the end of his term the transfer of the available space in the State Administrative Center, in the Saco Grande neighborhood.

However, authorization will be given by the current Legislative Assembly of Santa Catarina, which is expected to resume the matter in February.

It is estimated that Santa Catarina has around 3 million descendants of Italians, almost half of its population. Today, anyone who needs consular assistance must travel to Curitiba.
