Project provides visas for digital nomads in Italy

Bill wants to make it easier for digital nomads from outside the European Union to enter Italy

Italy could be the next destination to offer visas for digital nomads, according to an early draft of a new law.

The prospect, understandably, caused a buzz among professionals who freed themselves from office jobs during the pandemic.

A bill from the italian senate seems to want to bring this dream to life.

Digital nomads would be required to comply with all tax and social security obligations, and have a health insurance that covers all possible risks.

According to the draft law, the visa would be given to workers who remotely carry out highly qualified professions, such as web programmers, digital marketing specialists, writers, bloggers, translators and graphic designers, for example.

These workers could work in Italy for a period of one year, as freelancers or for companies.
