Italy announces new measures to avoid second wave of the pandemic
The Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, signed a decree that will come into force this Monday (17) and that makes It is mandatory to wear a mask between 18pm and 6am in public places where “groups form”.
The measure aims to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).
The decree also suspends the operation of outdoor nightclubs, as indoor party venues are not yet authorized to resume activities.
The measure will remain in force until at least September 7th and was announced after several disagreements between the central government and regional authorities regarding the restrictions that should be applied in the nighttime leisure sector, which employs almost 50 thousand people.
The decision was taken during the so-called “Ferragosto“, the weekend of August 15th, the time when more Italians are on vacation and visit the beaches.
