According to the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, a proposal to create a retirement savings fund for each child born in the country is gaining traction. The model envisions initial state aid, tax exemptions for contributions from parents and relatives, and incentives for the beneficiary to contribute to the fund in adulthood, building a reserve pension. Funding could come from partially redirecting resources currently used for infant benefits. The newspaper now awaits the positions of the political parties and advocates for convergence between the government and the opposition.
The idea of the so-called "evolutionary porcellino" appears in an essay by Mauro Maré and other authors, published by Il Mulino. The Corriere article points to three directions in this measure: recognizing the consequences of the demographic crisis, assuming responsibility towards generations that will have meager and uncertain pensions, and creating a fund capable of investing in the real economy in the long term.
A similar initiative was launched in the United States and is being discussed in Germany and other European countries. Economist Luigi Guiso studied baby equity funds in his book *Families and Savings*. In a survey of employees, 40% of respondents said they would allocate the initial check to the fund, 30% only partially, and 30% would spend it immediately.
