Call for the preliminary phase for those in the 2007 queue for Italian citizenship runs from February 18th to May 17th.
The Italian Consulate General in São Paulo opened this Friday (15) the call for applicants who are waiting in line, referring to the year 2007, for the preliminary phase of the citizenship recognition process.
According to the statement available on the organization's website, interested parties will have to confirm by email ([email protected]) interest in the process from February 18th. The deadline is May 17th. After that, the consulate will make a call via email, informing you of the procedures and the date to start the process.
Due to the European Personal Data Protection Law (GDPR), since 2016 the consulate has been prohibited from publishing the list of those called up.
The Supreme Court reaffirmed: citizenship is born with the person.

It is estimated that around 120 thousand people are in line at the consulate in São Paulo. In 2018 alone, the consulate received 18.098 applications. The data was also released this Friday. For those who applied last year, the call is scheduled for 2030.

In 2018, the consulate completed 9.774 citizenship recognition processes, a number that represents an increase of 45% compared to the previous year.

To enter the queue at the Italian Consulate in São Paulo, you must fill out the application form and send by letter via the Post Office, with AR – Acknowledgment of Receipt (which must be kept by the applicant) to:
