According to the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Farid Industrie, a Turin-based company belonging to the German Zoeller Group, won the bid to supply equipment for New York's new waste collection system. The contract is worth up to €250 million, with a deadline of 2031, €70 million in orders already confirmed, and deliveries scheduled between 2026 and 2027. The company, which recorded revenue of €210 million last year, estimates annual growth of €35 to €50 million with the project.
New York City decided to install large containers on the streets to combat rodent infestations and improve working conditions for waste collectors. Farid, which produces the equipment to move these containers, adapted its technology in six months and participated in a pilot project in Manhattan.
