Heat wave: 20 Italian cities on maximum alert on Wednesday.

Copernicus confirms: June and July were the hottest ever recorded in Western Europe, with 20 Italian cities on red alert on Wednesday.

According to Sky TG24, Italy is experiencing one of the hottest weeks of the year, with 18 cities on red alert on August 10th. The Ministry of Health predicts a progressive worsening: 19 cities on maximum alert on Tuesday, August 11th, and 20 on Wednesday, August 12th. Bolzano moves from orange to red on Tuesday; Brescia follows the same path on Wednesday. The remaining monitored cities are on orange or yellow alert.

The European monitoring program Copernicus, coordinated by the European Commission in partnership with the European Space Agency, indicates that June and July were the hottest period ever recorded in Western Europe. The drought intensified, extreme wildfires spread, and seas broke surface temperature records.
