According to the AISE news agency, Luca Sabbatucci is the new Italian ambassador to Switzerland. A native of Romano, born on March 5, 1963, he joined the Farnesina (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in 1990 and held posts in Seoul, Athens, and Ankara throughout his career. Before assuming the post in Bern, he served as Italy's permanent representative to international organizations in Paris, a position he held from November 15, 2022.

Sabbatucci graduated with honors in Political Science from the University of Rome La Sapienza and served in the Carabinieri. At the Farnesina (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), he directed the areas of human resources, innovation, and globalization, and was chief of staff to then-Minister Luigi Di Maio in 2022. He is a Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
